On Monday, June 2nd, I picked up Claire for her 2nd sleepover. I was going to pick her up Tuesday afternoon, but the schedule changed because of the mix up in my Yosemite reservations. I didn’t get to her house until after 11. I felt bad because she waited so long, then finally went to sleep, and then I came and woke her up. She was tired, but still excited. I managed to keep her awake by talking to her about all the cool things we were going to do. I didn’t think Josh and I could carry a sleeping child, all her luggage, and all my luggage upstairs.
We set up a coloring station for her in case she woke up, but next morning Claire slept until 9am. She only woke up because we were being noisy making breakfast. She woke up to check out what Josh was doing in the kitchen. The whole visit she helped Josh make food in the kitchen. Josh had her sit on the stool, and kept her busy with little things, or just had her watch while he did his favorite thing, lecture (that’s not my favorite thing, jerk! -JW). After breakfast we told her to hurry up and get ready because we were going to take her to the Children’s Discovery Museum. We found that a little bit of motivation goes a long way with a five year old.
