Yosemite 16 mile hike

Waterfall we crossedI also planned a trip to Yosemite with my dad. We left Sunday afternoon on June 1st. The drive there and back was very strange because normally when in a car with my father untold numbers of circumstances combine to cause intolerable traffic conditions, but this time everything went quite smoothly. The trip was planned last minute, so my guess is the gods were taken off guard. When we got there we did discover that there was a mistake in our reservations. The Delaware Company only had us reserved for one night. We were very disappointed, but didn’t let that change our super hiking plans. We went to the local pizza joint to drown our sorrows in food and beer.

The next morning we got up early for Dad. We had a mini breakfast in our room after gearing up, and headed out the door. The morning was crisp and clear with promises of quickly dissipating to an unwelcoming heat that hikers hate. We started out at a brisk pace (thanks to the flat trails from the lodge to the trail head). The further up we went the farther Dad got. On the back of my right heel a blister plotted to slow my progress. Eventually, Dad asked if he was going to fast, and I explained my perilous condition. We decided to find a good place to fortify my heel with special blister pads that thwart their efforts of destruction.
